A sophisticated telemetric device, built into the onboard computer systems across multiple car models, was designed to handle emergency safety calls. In the event of an accident or a vehicle malfunction, this device instantly contacts emergency services and stores information about the incident.

Moreover, it continuously communicates and monitors vehicle performance data and diagnostics, improving overall vehicle dependability and passenger safety.

Despite having an in-house Testing and QA department, the client decided to outsource the solution due to the need for specialized expertise. As a result, our team was called in to execute rigorous testing protocols, including diverse testing scenarios, detailed test cases, and specialized bench setups from scratch. The overall goal was to minimize expenses for testing, avoiding costly field testing.

Within two years, our dedicated team varied from 2 to 8 professionals. However, the core team consisted of a Validation Manager, a Team Lead, and QA specialists of various tiers.

Since the project started without strict stages, we needed to establish work rules to ensure a structured approach:

• We needed to accurately simulate real-world road and environmental conditions without conducting field testing,
• We had to comply with local regulations and strict standards of the automotive industry,
• To ensure dependable and consistent test results, we had to create strong validation processes from the ground up,
• The requirements included ensuring smooth interoperability and integration across various vehicle types and onboard system architectures, adding an extra layer of technical complexity,
• As a result, the project’s scope increased in the process, so the testing team needed to be successfully upscaled and managed.

We created a sophisticated bench-testing system, segmenting testing solutions into several phases and categories of hazards:

• First Verification Stage: Device responsiveness and basic functionality,
• Communication Protocol Stage: Extensive testing of protocols and communication interfaces, including validation of CAN (Controller Area Network), LIN (Local Interconnect Network), MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport), and Ethernet protocols.
• Stage of Environmental Simulation: Replication of different road conditions, temperatures, and weather,
• Hazard Types Assessment: Identifying and testing for critical hazard scenarios, such as power outages, emergencies, and system failures.

Automobile safety components, thoroughly tested and totally compliant, were delivered to the client on time and within budget. Our testing techniques have streamlined the following:
