It is a three-sided network that connects people with like-minded individuals, mentors, and businesses - all related to physical activity and healthy living. The company approached the development team to create a wellness app that would cater to different categories of users and provide personalized functionality to each member group. The main goal was to build a unique project from scratch that combined social media and marketplace features.
The social network brings together active lifestyle enthusiasts such as cyclists, runners, nutritionists, and others. ActivePlace users can join the platform and its wellness community to discover active experiences, training, and virtual as well as share their own fitness stories. Users can also boost their motivation by sharing updates, articles, videos, and achievements.
Within the community, mentors feature as experts in health, wellness, and active lifestyle domains. On ActivePlace, they get increased visibility within the community by contributing quality content and engaging with other users. Maximum exposure on the platform allows mentors to raise their reach and profile as well as market their wellness services online and offline with the power of personal branding.
ActivePlace also has a marketplace facet that helps businesses market and sell their products and services in 30+ health and fitness categories. Businesses can publish unlimited updates and articles to raise brand awareness and offer specialized products to both mentors and users. Community interests are how users tell ActivePlace what they want in their feeds. These are online properties or tags in which members relate common experiences and interests.
Achievements feature the track records of users such as the number of kilometers covered or days of walking. This information is visible in profiles.
ActivePlace has an intuitive mobile-friendly desktop version with responsive design and rich functionality. The main version was also complemented with a desktop application that runs stand-alone on a desktop or laptop computer.
ActivePlace is also available on native apps for both iOS and Android with uniquely designed interfaces for each screen configuration.
The project started with the research stage where the business idea of ActivePlace was validated to ensure the success of a future solution. This stage was crucial since the pioneering idea presented higher risks compared with other custom software.
